How to Apply

We value early, respectful conversations with organizations whose work aligns with our mission and grantmaking priorities.

Step 1

Review Alignment

We encourage applicants to review our funding priorities and goals to determine whether a proposal aligns with the Foundation’s mission, geographic focus, and approach.

We look for proposals that:

  • Present a strategic response to a compelling challenge consistent with our mission

  • Identify expected results and how progress will be assessed

  • Leverage resources beyond the Foundation, including financial and in-kind support

  • Demonstrate lasting impact or sustainability beyond the period of our funding

We look for organizations that:

  • Demonstrate a track record of effectiveness and community trust

  • Are on sound financial footing with engaged governance

  • Maintain a mission aligned with the Foundation’s focus

Step 2

Contact a Program Director

Please contact a Foundation Program Director to discuss your program or project. We encourage organizations to begin this conversation 2–4 months before funding is needed.
Grant range: Grants generally range from $15,000 to $100,000, though some may be lower or higher depending on scope and impact.

Step 3

Proposal Submission

Following an initial conversation, the Program Director will share guidance on next steps, requested materials, and anticipated timelines.

Reporting and Learning

The Foundation approaches reporting as a shared learning practice, grounded in trust, transparency, and mutual accountability.

We seek to learn alongside our partners about what it takes to do this work well and how to strengthen outcomes over time for the communities we serve.

Rather than focusing solely on compliance or metrics, our reporting framework is designed to support reflection, adaptation, and continuous improvement. We prioritize right-sized reporting that respects partners’ time and expertise, values qualitative and community-informed insights, and centers learning as much as measurement.

The Foundation aims to foster an environment of trust and openness one in which partners feel supported in sharing what’s working, what isn’t, and what they are learning along the way. Reporting is not an endpoint, but a tool for collective learning, adaptation, and deeper impact over time.

Communication

We encourage grant recipients to remain in contact with their Program Director regarding changes in the project, new opportunities, and meaningful updates.
