About Us

Our Story
Founded in 1959 by Alexander D. and Lucy E. Henderson, the Foundation was established to strengthen education and support systems for children. Through sustained philanthropic investment, the Foundation continues to support work that helps young children reach their full potential and strengthens the families and communities that surround them. Early gifts included Avon stock and property that helped establish what is now Henderson Behavioral Health, as well as foundational support for educational institutions such as Saint Andrews School and the A.D. Henderson University School.
