Our core values are the fundamental beliefs upon which our foundation and its people operate.

The A.D. Henderson Foundation remains committed to addressing racism as we pursue our mission. To that end, the Foundation has taken the following steps:

We have embedded our commitment to achieving racial equity into our strategic plan. We prioritize time at each of our meetings for discussion, providing an opportunity for thoughtful reflection, ideas, and actions.

We continue to meet with diverse community stakeholders to have discussions that might have previously pushed us beyond our comfort zones. We understand those discussions are necessary, and lead to awareness and change.

While using the Foundation’s mission to provide influence, we educate ourselves through various sources and opportunities. Using a racial equity lens, we work to be better listeners, build trust, and support diverse organizations that are creating change in our communities.

We understand that we need to be informed, consistent, and vigilant in our efforts to address issues of diversity. We stand firm in our commitment to justice and racial equity as we work towards our mission of being dedicated to improving the lives of young children and their families in Broward County, Florida and the State of Vermont.

“One light feeds another. One strong family lends strength to more. One engaged community can ignite those around it. This is the power of the light we carry.” –Michelle Obama from The Light We Carry
