Grant Review Process: What We Look For
The Foundation wishes to encourage collaboration between organizations and between the private and public sector. The Foundation prefers applications that leverage other financial and in-kind resources. It is important that you have done your research to identify other funding sources that can be a part of this project. We will review the status of other fund-raising requests for this program. The Foundation expects that if a Grant Agreement is entered into for your Application, there will be no dilution of services from what the grant seeker has proposed and was approved. The Foundation will consider funding of specific programs for only 1 to 3 years. The Foundation looks for organizations on sound financial footing with required tax reporting and accounting practices. As a reminder, the Letter should not exceed three pages and all pages should be numbered sequentially.
Our Review Process
If we consider your Application, a Foundation Program Director will schedule a site visit with you to discuss the project. The Program Directors meet quarterly with the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees to make recommendations of Applications to be considered for approval. The applicant will be contacted regarding the Executive Committee’s decision and the next steps to complete the process. In some cases (including grants of over $100,000 and grants of special interest), the applicant will be asked to submit a Formal Grant Application for Board approval. The Program Director will provide guidance on how to complete this procedure, including written communication on the documentation to be furnished to the Foundation for this approval.
How Long Does the Process Take?
The applicant should plan six months in advance of when funds will be needed to implement the project.
