The Foundation will consider grants that help:
• Prepare children to be ready to learn when they enter school and to become lifelong learners;
• Create and sustain accessible and effective childcare;
• Strengthen the bond between communities, families, and children;
• Build organizational capacity and foster the use of technology by nonprofit organizations;
• Improve the lives of people through the therapeutic use of animals.
To achieve these goals, the Foundation specifically looks for programs that:
• Enhance and promote the literacy and learning skills of children and families;
• Improve the quality of childcare and the expertise of childcare providers;
• Promote mentoring and positive relationships between children and adults;
• Provide in-school and out-of-school activities for children with a focus on childcare, literacy, art, science and culture;
• Utilize computer technology to improve the learning capabilities of children;
• Strengthen the organizational capacity of non-profits with a focus on board and staff development, fundraising, utilization of technology, and program delivery;
• Address the educational aspects of family planning;
• Promote the therapeutic use of animals.
What The Foundation Does Not Fund
The Foundation generally declines grant requests for:
1. Endowments
2. Fund-raising events or annual campaigns
3. Capital campaigns or operating budgets
4. Sectarian purposes
5. Individuals or scholarships
6. Equipment (unless it is an integral part of an otherwise eligible project)
7. Medical or Clinical Research
8. Deficit financing or loan repayment
